Karachi the biggest city of Pakistan and the capital of province Sindh. Until 1958 it was also the capital of Pakistan, it is also called "The City Of Lights". Karachi is also called the city of "Quaid" because the birth and the burial of (Muhammad Ali Jinnah) Quaid-E-Azam who was the founder of the country. It is also one of the world's mega cities. Karachi is a highly populated city of Pakistan with approximately 18.5 million people. It is the largest city in the Muslim world. In terms of area Karachi spreads over a vast area of about 3,530 km per square which is almost 5 times more than Singapore.
Karachi is the life of Pakistan as it is the country's premier center of trade,industry and banking. It is also called the financial capital and the main seaport of the country. Karachi is the center of education and visual scencnary of different land marks.
Karachi is a hub for higher education in wider Islamic world and the southern part of Asia. The literacy rate of Karachi is very high as compared to other cities in the country. The main focus of the city is religious education in terms of schooling and implementing religious values in the heart of people.
The physical composition of Karachi is very beautiful. It is located in the most southern tip of the country. Karachi has a reputation of having wonderful houses and big restaurants. Due to its location the city also enjoys its prominent position on a Bay. The city blessed with so many beautiful attractions worth seeing. Some of them are the Zoo, Sands Pit, Frere Hall, M.A Jinnah Road, Clifton, Zaib Un Nisa Street, Manora, Burns Road, Hawks Bay.
Globally Karachi is the fastest growing city. After Pakistan got its Independence Karachi's population dramatically increased because thousand of Urdu Muhajirs Or migrants from India (East Pakistan- later known as Bangladesh) migrated towards Pakistan and settled down in the city. It is a house of largest corporations which includes all those involved in shipping, entertainment, arts, advertising, fashion, textiles, publishing, medical research, textiles and software development.
It is also the home to the National Stadium, which hosts many cricket games, and several other sports complexes. Karachi has many large and small shopping areas including the Saddar area in downtown Karachi. The city has a modern international airport called the Jinnah International Airport and two large shipping ports at Port of Karachi and Port Qasim. Karachi is linked by railway to the rest of Pakistan. Overall the city is considered as a Beta world city.
