The Great Pyramid Of Giza
The earth is the planet that we live on and it is the fifth-largest planet. It is positioned in third place from the Sun. Believed to be around 4.56 billion years old. Our earth is the only planet that can sustain humans and other living species.
It is 149,600,000 km away from the sun. It makes one revolution, or one complete orbit of the sun, in about 365 days and 6 hours. As it revolves, it rotates on its axis once every 24 hours. As a result, we get day and night.
Its total surface area is roughly 509,600,000 sq. km of which about 71% is water. And the total land area is around 148,647,000 sq. Km which is 29% of the surface of the earth.
There are three layers on the earth which we know as the core, mantle and crust. The core is the centre of the earth that is usually very hot. Further, we have the crust that is the outer layer. Finally, between the core and crust, we have the mantle i.e. the middle part. The layer that we live on is the outer one with the rocks.
Earth's atmosphere consists of a mixture of gases, chiefly nitrogen and oxygen.
Earth's surface is traditionally subdivided into seven continental masses that is:
Africa
Antartica
Asia
Australia
Europe
North America
South America
And these continents are surrounded by five major bodies of water called oceans:
Arctic ocean
Atlantic ocean
Indian ocean
Southern ocean
Pacific ocean
Earth is home to not just humans but millions of other plants and species. The water and air on the earth make it possible for life to sustain. As the earth is the only livable planet, we must protect it at all costs.
